General Introduction:
Benito Mussolini was born on 29 July 1883. He was an Italian politician and one of the founders of Italian Fascism. He was a socialist early in life. During WWI, he became a fascist and gradually seized power. Mussolini became the Prime Minister of Italy in 1922. On 10 June 1940, Mussolini led Italy into World War II on the side of the Axis. Three years later, Mussolini was deposed at the Grand Council of Fascism due to Allies invasion. Mussolini was rescued from prison by Hitler’s force. Later, Mussolini attempted to escape to Switzerland, only to be quickly captured. He and his mistress were shot and their bodies were hanged by their feet in Milan. The following Video portrays Mussolini's early life till his death at the end of WWII. We will then explore his early life, his rise to power and his actions during WWII.
